Dear friends,

You are invited to attend our annual family and young people mindfulness retreat to be held from Dec. 7 to Dec. 10, 2017 at Chin Swee Caves Temple, Genting Highland, Pahang. Families with children, young people and individuals are welcome to attend the retreat. The retreat has been the place for families to have open communication and their loving care expressed. Everyone has lots of fun along the way of transformation and healing. The parents and children enjoy just being themselves and being present for each other.

Parents and children will have separate as well as joint activities. Depending on the number of participants, the children, teens, young people and adults will be divided into groups according to their age: Children program: 6 to 12 years old, teen program: 13 to 16 years old, youths: 17 to 22 years old, and adults: 22 years old and up. There are no separate programs for children under 6, and they have to be under full care of the parents.

The activities held in this family and young people retreat are similar to the ones offered in Plum Village France. We will learn and practice mindful breathing, mindful walking, and pleasant smiling; the foundation of the Plum Village tradition. We will also practice deep listening and loving speech. By embodying these basic skills, we can offer our true presence to our loved ones, our children, and our parents.

Present moment, wonderful moment, one of the fundamental teachings of the Buddha on how to dwell happily and joyfully in the present moment. But our capacity to be truly present has weaken, because we are too busy multi-tasking about the future, too troubled about the past, too carried away by our present feelings and emotions. Our modern conveniences have become a burden, preventing us to enjoy life in front of us.

We shall learn how we can plan for the future and look at our past, but our mind, as taught by the Buddha, is not burdened by or day dreaming about these things. We shall investigate this teaching in the Discourse on the Full Awareness of the Breathing and learn how the practice of mindfulness can help us care for and enliven our future, our present, and our past.

Language spoken: Talks will be given in English with no translation offered in other languages.

The tentative program is as follow:
